Blown Glass
Blown glass objects are one-of-a-kind compositions; layers and rows of fusible glass are arranged to create complex interactions of color. Rene Culler enjoys blowing variations on bowl forms. Surfaces may be left clear, sandblasted and waxed, and spot polished.
Neo-lavender Blue, 2007
Fused and blown glass, Italian-pastorelli method
Bowl: 12" x 10" x 10" one of a kind
A fused glass plate is picked up on the pastorelli plate and heated so that it can be rolled into a tube, then have its end closed off to manipulate and blow into a form. The neo-lavender color is light reactive: lavender in natural/halogen light and blue under fluorescent light.
