Painted pots are inspired by ancient Egyptian core vessels and Roman bottles. Those tiny hand held objects used for precious unguents are updated in scale from 10 to 20 x. I am inspired by my undergraduate painting teacher, Prof. Julian Stanczak, the originator of “Op Art, ” the term coined to describe his New York show in the 60’s. And finally after moving to the deep south, by the colors of the landscape and a appreciation for the diverse regions of the US.
