The work is inspired by time in Korea as a Senior Fulbright Research Fellow. Hosted at Namseoul University by Prof. Jong Pil Pyun, objects were produced in blown glass with the generous and skillful aid of students in the Glass Program. These works are sketches inspired and informed by research into traditional Korean forms, primarily Buncheong- era ceramics. Two forms that were particularly inspiring were the “changuum” or “pisspot” and the “full moon” form. The flask form and “mountain forms” were accomplished by the use of a plaster blow mold. Bold yet simple painterly imagery is used to depict aspects of intriguing Korean culture.
